Italian Fiaticorti Film Festival picks Iranian short 'Zona'

Iranian 'Zona' wins best short award at the 19th Fiaticorti Film Festival in Italy.

Iranian 'Zona' has won the award for best short film at the 19th edition of the Fiaticorti Film Festival in Italy.

Directed by Toufan Nahan-Qodrati, the short film tells the story of a man who loses himself to the point of becoming an enemy to his loved ones.

He goes to court because of having relationship with a pregnant woman.

To verify claims, the woman takes a DNA test that reveals a great secret about her life.

"The director conducts the narration in an essential and convincing way supported by the excellent acting and by photography that illuminates the protagonist's journey with a realistic and at the same time poetic angle," the festival's website wrote about 'Zona'.

Italian philosopher Umberto Curi was the president of the jury, which included critic Alessandro Cinquegrani and filmmaker Marco Segato.

Closing night and awarding ceremony of the Fiaticorti Film Festival was held in the northeastern Italian city of Treviso on October 26, 2018.
